Description
Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2022 is a classic Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most respected Fifth Growth estates, offering the depth, structure, and refinement collectors look for in a serious Left Bank red. Known for its Cabernet Sauvignon-driven character and impeccable balance, it reflects the timeless style that has made the château a benchmark in the Médoc since its 1855 classification.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep ruby colour with violet highlights, signalling both concentration and youth. The nose is likely to unfold with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle floral notes, all framed by the mineral edge so characteristic of Pauillac.
On the palate, expect a precise, firmly structured wine with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and excellent freshness. The finish should be long and savoury, with classic Cabernet Sauvignon austerity that suggests strong ageing potential; this is a wine that can reward cellaring for many years, gaining complexity and polish over time.
Production
Grand-Puy-Lacoste comes from gravelly Pauillac terroir, where well-drained soils and a maritime climate encourage Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen slowly and evenly. The estate is known for careful vineyard management and selective harvesting to preserve purity and balance. Vinification is traditionally geared toward precision and extraction control, with maturation in oak barrels to build structure while respecting the wine’s elegant, site-driven character.
Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with robust dishes such as roast lamb, grilled ribeye, beef tenderloin, duck confit, or game birds. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if opening young to help the wine express its full aromatic range and soften its tannins.

Over the years, it has earned strong recognition among collectors and critics for producing wines of exceptional ageing ability and authentic Pauillac character.
