Girlan Sauvignon Flora 2024

Girlan Flora Sauvignon 2024 is a precise, lively Sauvignon Blanc from Alto Adige, bringing together expressive varietal aromas, mineral freshness and an elegant, persistent finish. Made from hillside vineyards around Cornaiano, Monticolo and Monte di Appiano, it reflects the region’s distinctive Alpine-Mediterranean character.

Tasting Notes
Expect a bright, fresh profile, with aromas of nettle and elderflower layered with citrus and white-fleshed fruit. The palate is taut and energetic, its pronounced minerality and lively acidity balanced by an elegant structure and a clean, notably persistent finish. Its freshness makes it well suited to enjoying in its youth; careful cellaring may allow the wine to develop further over the next few years.

Production
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from vineyards at around 500 metres above sea level, where Alpine-Mediterranean conditions and temperature variation help preserve freshness. Clay, limestone and gravel soils contribute to the wine’s mineral character. The grapes are hand-harvested, briefly macerated and gently pressed. After natural clarification, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine then spends eight months on fine lees in a combination of stainless steel and large oak casks, without malolactic fermentation, before further bottle ageing.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C. Its citrus freshness and mineral edge make it a natural match for seafood, shellfish, grilled white fish, asparagus and fresh goat’s cheese. Decanting is not necessary; open shortly before serving to let its aromatic notes emerge.

Founded in 1923 in a historic country estate, Cantina Girlan brings together around 200 winegrowing families who cultivate 230 hectares of vineyards in South Tyrol. The cooperative is known for showcasing the character of its local sites, combining traditional cellar spaces with modern winemaking under oenologist Gerhard Kofler.
