Girlan Pinot Noir Riserva Flora 2023

Girlan Pinot Noir Riserva Flora is a refined South Tyrolean expression of Pinot Noir, shaped by the character of three of the region’s most prized subzones: Girlan, Mazon, and Pinzon. Made by the historic Girlan winery, founded in 1923, this Riserva combines elegance, precision, and a distinctly Alpine sense of freshness.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red colour that hints at its vibrant fruit profile. The nose is lifted and inviting, with fresh aromas of berries and black cherries, supported by a subtle complexity that reflects its careful élevage. On the palate, it is elegant and fruit-driven, with very velvety, delicate tannins and a long, graceful finish. The wine has the structure and poise to age well for several years, gaining further depth and nuance over time.

Production
The grapes come from selected Pinot Noir parcels in Girlan, Mazon, and Pinzon, areas known for producing some of Alto Adige’s most distinguished expressions of the variety. After destemming, the must is transferred by gravity into stainless steel tanks for a 20–22 day alcoholic fermentation, preserving purity and finesse. The wine is then matured for 12 months in barriques and small 12 hl wooden casks, followed by a further 6 months of bottle refinement.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir Riserva pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, veal, mushroom dishes, game birds, and richer Mediterranean preparations. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for around 30 minutes if you want to open up its aromatic complexity and soften the wine further in youth.
