Description

Alberelli di Giodo 2022 is a limited-production Nerello Mascalese from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, made by Tuscan winemaker Carlo Ferrini. With just 9,000 bottles produced, it combines the grape’s firm structure with concentrated dark fruit and sweet spice.

Tasting Notes
The nose and palate are described by dark fruit and sweet spices, with ample depth and a powerful, concentrated feel. Firm, carefully handled tannins give the wine its shape, while ripe fruit brings balance and softness.

Production
The fruit comes from a 1.9-hectare site on Etna’s northern side, where 50- to 80-year-old vines grow at elevations of 560 to 850 metres. The wine matures for 18 months in 500- and 700-litre casks. Harvesting and vinification details are not specified.

Food & Serving
Try it with slow-roasted lamb, grilled beef or richly flavoured mushroom dishes, whose savoury character can complement the wine’s dark fruit and firm tannins. Serve at around 16–18°C. A brief decant of 30–60 minutes may help it open up.
