Description

Gianni Gagliardo Barolo del Comune di La Morra 2021 is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barolo’s most celebrated communes. Sourced from vineyards around the estate in La Morra, it offers the balance, finesse, and approachable structure that have made this area famous among Barolo lovers.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic garnet tones of Barolo, with the promise of brightness and elegance rather than sheer power. The nose typically leans toward red cherry, rose petal, dried herbs, and subtle spice, with the vineyard’s La Morra character bringing an inviting sense of softness and depth. On the palate, expect a graceful wine with supple texture, lively acidity, and polished tannins, giving it both immediate charm and the structure to develop beautifully over time. La Morra’s relatively young soils are known for producing wines with notable fullness and gentleness early in their life, while still allowing for good aging potential.

Production
This wine is made from carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes grown in vineyards surrounding the winery, all located within the commune of La Morra in Piedmont. The area’s soils, which are relatively young compared with other parts of Barolo, help shape a style that is naturally rounder and more supple, contributing to the wine’s hallmark combination of richness and finesse.

Food & Serving
This Barolo pairs wonderfully with classic Piedmontese dishes, truffle pasta, braised beef, game, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours when young to allow its aromas and tannins to open fully.

Producer
Poderi Gianni Gagliardo is a respected family producer in Piedmont with a strong reputation for expressive, terroir-driven Barolo. Over the years, the estate has become known for wines that combine tradition with finesse, helping showcase the character and elegance of La Morra and the broader Barolo region.
