Description
Ghislaine Barthod’s Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes 2013 is a beautifully poised Burgundy that captures the elegance and precision for which Chambolle-Musigny is celebrated. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it combines site-driven finesse with the depth and concentration of a demanding vintage, offering a classic expression of both vineyard and producer.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a refined, translucent ruby color typical of great Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The nose is lifted and expressive, with aromas of ripe red cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant layered with violet, subtle spice, and a fine earthy-mineral nuance.
The palate is supple yet structured, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of concentrated red berry fruit that gives the wine both energy and length. Les Baudes contributes a distinctly chalky, mineral tension, and while it is already approachable, the wine has the balance and structure to develop additional complexity over the next 8–12 years.
Production
Les Baudes is a Premier Cru vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny known for its limestone-rich soils, which help produce wines of exceptional finesse and aromatic detail. The 2013 vintage in Burgundy brought cool temperatures and challenging weather, resulting in naturally lower yields and smaller berries, which contributed to the wine’s concentration and intensity. The grapes were hand-harvested, fermented naturally using traditional methods, and aged in French oak barrels to add texture, structure, and nuanced complexity without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with duck breast, roasted quail, game birds, mushroom dishes, and tender veal, as well as dishes featuring truffle or earthy root vegetables. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if opening it now to allow the aromas to fully unfold.

The estate is considered one of the benchmark producers of Chambolle-Musigny, with a devoted following among Burgundy enthusiasts.
