Description

Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Les Veroilles 1er Cru 2012 Magnum is a poised and highly refined Burgundy from one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most respected names. Made from Pinot Noir in a challenging vintage, it combines finesse, depth, and the kind of precision that has made Domaine Ghislaine Barthod such a benchmark producer in the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color that hints at both concentration and elegance. The nose opens with lifted red fruit aromas of cherry and strawberry, woven together with rose petals, forest floor, and a subtle spice note. On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, with vibrant acidity giving freshness to the fruit and polished tannins creating a silky, seamless texture. The finish is long and layered, with lingering red berry character, gentle mineral notes, and a graceful sense of harmony. It can be enjoyed now for its energy and charm, but it also has the structure to develop additional nuance with cellaring.

Production
The wine comes from Les Veroilles, a premier cru site in Chambolle-Musigny, where Pinot Noir benefits from Burgundy’s cool climate and well-draining limestone-rich soils. The 2012 season was marked by frost, hail, and a damp growing period, leading to lower yields but impressive concentration in the surviving fruit. Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is known for meticulous vineyard work and careful vinification aimed at preserving purity, texture, and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This Chambolle-Musigny is an excellent match for roast duck, game birds, veal, mushroom dishes, or gently prepared lamb. Serve it slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young to allow the aromas and structure to fully unfold.

Producer
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most admired estates in Chambolle-Musigny, known for producing wines of exceptional balance, detail, and longevity. The domaine has built a strong reputation in Burgundy for its refined approach to Pinot Noir and its consistent ability to express the elegance of the village’s top sites. Its wines are highly sought after by collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts alike.
