Description
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod’s Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Véroilles 2010 Magnum is a beautifully poised expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most admired names. Sourced from the coveted Premier Cru site of Les Véroilles, it combines Chambolle-Musigny’s signature grace and perfume with the depth and precision of an exceptional vintage.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a brilliant deep ruby color that already hints at its concentration and energy. The nose opens with red cherry and raspberry, lifted by violet and subtle earthy undertones, with the kind of aromatic finesse that makes Chambolle-Musigny so sought after.
The palate is structured yet seamless, delivering layers of ripe red fruit, spice, and mineral nuance with impressive balance. Tannins are ripe and finely woven, giving the wine a silky texture and a long, elegant finish. Thanks to the excellent 2010 vintage, it has the freshness and backbone to age gracefully for many more years.
Production
Les Véroilles is a small Premier Cru vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny, where limestone-rich soils and a cool Burgundian climate help produce wines of delicacy, perfume, and refinement. The 2010 vintage benefited from a long, cool growing season that allowed the Pinot Noir grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, preserving freshness while building complexity. Harvesting was carried out with precision to select healthy, fully mature fruit, followed by traditional vinification aimed at preserving the vineyard’s elegant character and sense of place.
Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for dishes that reflect its finesse and depth, such as roast duck, quail, game birds, veal, or mushroom-based preparations. It is best served slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and will benefit from decanting for about 30–60 minutes if enjoyed young, especially in magnum format. Older bottles should be handled gently and decanted only if necessary.

Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is widely respected as one of the benchmark producers in Chambolle-Musigny, known for crafting Pinot Noir wines of purity, precision, and remarkable aging potential. The domaine has built its reputation on careful vineyard work and a restrained, terroir-driven style that captures the elegance of the village’s finest sites.
