G.H. Mumm Cuvée Cordon Rouge Brut NV

G.H. Mumm Cuvée Cordon Rouge Brut NV is one of Champagne’s most recognisable house signatures, instantly identifiable by its iconic red ribbon. First introduced in 1876, this elegant cuvée has long been associated with celebration, and it showcases the breadth of the region through a blend drawn from 120 crus.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a clear pale yellow colour with a lively mousse and fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is fresh and dry, opening with notes of lemon, grapefruit, dried apricot, peach, white flowers and a subtle nutty edge. The palate is elegant and bright, with a well-balanced core of citrus and stone fruit lifted by a touch of caramel and gentle sweetness. Crisp, lively and refined, it finishes with a vibrant, graceful persistence and should continue to hold its appeal over the short to medium term.

Production
This cuvée is built on a classic Champagne blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, sourced from some of the region’s most expressive sites. Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and Aube provides structure, Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, Sézannais, Vitryat and Aube brings finesse, while Meunier from the Marne Valley, Ardre and Montagne de Reims adds fruit and roundness. The wine is aged for a minimum of 20 months in the cellars of Maison Mumm before release.

Food & Serving
A versatile Champagne for aperitifs and celebratory moments, it also pairs beautifully with oysters, sushi, shellfish, sashimi, light poultry dishes and creamy soft cheeses. Serve well chilled at around 6–8°C, and decanting is not recommended.
