Frescobaldi Gorgona Bianco 2025

Frescobaldi Gorgona Bianco 2025 is one of Tuscany’s most distinctive white wines, born from the windswept island of Gorgona and crafted by Marchesi Frescobaldi in partnership with the island’s prison community. Made from Vermentino and Inzolia, it combines coastal freshness, saline precision, and an unmistakably Mediterranean character. Beyond the wine itself, it stands out for its rare social and environmental significance, making each bottle part of a truly meaningful project.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw-yellow in the glass, Gorgona Bianco opens with an expressive bouquet of broom, citrus zest, and wild Mediterranean scrub. The nose is bright and inviting, with a clear maritime edge that hints at the island origin. On the palate, it is savory and fresh, with a lively, mouthwatering energy balanced by excellent persistence. The finish is clean and iodized, with a saline, almost sea-spray sensation that makes the wine especially compelling. While already highly enjoyable in its youth, it has the structure and balance to develop gracefully for a few years.

Production
The vines grow on Gorgona, a small island in the Tuscan archipelago, where iron-rich soils and an eastern exposure help shelter the vineyard from prevailing winds. The maritime climate shapes the grapes with their signature saline profile, while organic farming and green manuring support biodiversity and soil health. Vermentino is harvested in September and Inzolia in October, allowing each variety to reach optimal ripeness while preserving freshness and tension before careful vinification.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent wine for seafood of all kinds, especially shellfish, grilled fish, and sashimi or sushi. It also pairs beautifully with mild sheep’s cheese and other delicately flavored Mediterranean dishes. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C; decanting is not necessary.
