Description

Franz Haas Petit Manseng is a dry, single-varietal white wine from the Vigneti delle Dolomiti, bringing an uncommon grape to the mountain vineyards of Trentino-Alto Adige. Made by the historic Franz Haas estate, founded in 1880, it stands out for its barrel fermentation and maturation, which lend depth to its fresh, structured style.

Tasting Notes
Straw yellow in colour, the wine offers an intense, fruit-led aroma of citrus and yellow fruits, layered with mineral notes, dried fruit and delicate spice. The palate is precise and full-bodied, balanced by lively acidity that brings freshness and structure.

Production
The vineyards lie at 220–320 metres above sea level on hilly sites with alluvial soils. Vines are trained using the Guyot system and kept to low yields to encourage optimal phenolic ripeness; details of the harvest method are not specified. Fermentation takes place entirely in barrels, followed by around ten months of barrel ageing and a further period of rest in the cellar before release.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 12°C with Asian dishes, spiced food, fish or pasta with bottarga; its acidity also makes it a good match for flavourful cheeses. Decanting is not essential, though allowing the wine a little time to open in the glass can reveal more of its aromatic detail.

Producer
Founded in South Tyrol in 1880, Franz Haas is based in Montagna and is known for its work with the region’s varied vineyard sites and grape varieties. This Petit Manseng reflects the estate’s interest in expressive, distinctive wines from the Dolomiti IGT area. The producer information supplied notes recognition for the wine from Luca Maroni and James Suckling, though the scores are not specified as relating to the 2025 vintage.
