Fosso Corno Montepulciano AIRES

Fosso Corno Aires Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2020 is a full-bodied, characterful red from one of Abruzzo’s leading Montepulciano producers. Grown in vineyards overlooking the Adriatic Sea, it combines ripe dark-fruit flavour with a robust structure and refreshing regional identity. Despite its name, the Montepulciano grape is not related to the Tuscan town of Montepulciano or its famous Sangiovese-based wines.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in appearance, the wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe plums and cherries. On the palate, it is generous and robust, with a rounded body, concentrated fruit and a noticeable tannic grip that adds structure and length. The 2020 vintage is drinking well now, particularly alongside food, while its fruit and tannin should allow it to develop further over the next few years when stored in suitable conditions.

Production
The grapes come from Fosso Corno’s 30-hectare estate in Abruzzo, ideally situated with views towards the Adriatic Sea. This coastal setting contributes to the character of the wines, while the estate’s focus on Montepulciano allows the variety to express its rich fruit and firm structure. Specific harvesting and vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for beef, veal, pork and pasta dishes, particularly recipes featuring tomato-based sauces, roasted meat or hearty ragù. Serve lightly cool at around 16–18°C. It can be enjoyed immediately after opening; decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if serving young or if you would like to soften its tannins and open up the fruit.
