Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 is one of Ric Forman’s signature Napa Valley wines, crafted in the spirit of great Bordeaux but with the depth and energy that mark California’s finest estates. Made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec, it comes from the Forman Vineyard and reflects the precision, restraint, and class that have made Forman a cult name among collectors.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a dark, deep purple color in the glass, immediately hinting at its concentration and pedigree. On the nose, it opens with cassis, blackcurrant, sweet tobacco, leather, lavender, sage, and a subtle lift of eucalyptus. The palate is layered and powerful, with blueberry, blackberry, truffle, forest floor, and a gentle thread of anise. It has impressive structure and length, but it is also remarkably poised, with the 2015 vintage already drinking beautifully while still offering a long future ahead. Aging potential is excellent, with the wine expected to evolve gracefully for 25 years or more.

Production
Fruit is harvested by hand from the Forman Vineyard and sorted within about 30 minutes of picking, reflecting the estate’s uncompromising standards. The blend is vinified in a classic, Bordeaux-inspired style and then matured for 20 months in new French oak in deep underground cellars, 10 levels below the surface. The result is a wine with concentration, freshness, and a finely etched structure that balances richness with precision.

Food & Serving
This is a wine for serious food, especially grilled ribeye, roast lamb, venison, beef tenderloin, or dishes with truffle and mushroom accents. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and deeply savory, slow-cooked dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours, especially if opened young, to allow the wine to fully раскры its aromatics and structure.

Ric Forman is one of Napa Valley’s great pioneers, with a winemaking career that began in 1966 and includes time at Robert Mondavi and Newton before founding Forman Vineyard in 1983. His focus remains firmly on the vineyard and cellar, and the wines have become admired for their restraint, balance, and longevity.
