Description

Ferrari Perlé Nero Extra Brut Riserva 2018 is a distinguished Trentodoc Blanc de Noirs made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Produced using the traditional bottle-fermented method, it combines the precision of a mountain sparkling wine with the depth gained from extended lees ageing, resulting in an exceptionally fine mousse, pronounced minerality and impressive finesse. As Ferrari’s signature Pinot Noir-only cuvée, it represents a particularly elegant expression of Trentino’s high-altitude vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Brilliant and refined in appearance, the wine shows a luminous golden hue and an exceptionally fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet opens with ripe red and citrus fruit, followed by mineral nuances and delicate toasted notes developed during its long maturation on the lees. On the palate, it is dry, energetic and beautifully focused, with vibrant citrus freshness, pronounced saline minerality and a creamy, well-integrated texture. Subtle almond and soft roasted tones emerge on the long finish, while the Extra Brut dosage preserves the wine’s linear, precise character. Its balance and structure make it enjoyable now, while its extended bottle ageing potential allows further development of toasted and savoury complexity.

Production
The Pinot Noir grapes come from Ferrari’s high-altitude estates of Villa Margon, Maso Orsi and Maso Valli in the Trento area. The mountain terroir, with its significant day-to-night temperature variation, encourages slow ripening and helps preserve freshness, aromatic definition and natural acidity. Harvest takes place in mid-September, followed by gentle pressing without skin maceration to maintain clarity and finesse. The wine undergoes a second fermentation in bottle according to the traditional method and matures on its lees for at least six years, developing its creamy texture, complexity and exceptionally fine perlage before the final Extra Brut dosage.

Food & Serving
Its dry, mineral style makes Ferrari Perlé Nero an excellent partner for flavourful charcuterie, smoked fish, seafood and refined starters. Its structure also allows it to accompany richer dishes such as traditional bucatini alla carbonara, roast poultry or other savoury preparations with creamy textures. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary, although allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass will reveal more of its toasted and mineral complexity.

Producer
Ferrari was founded on Giulio Ferrari’s vision of creating outstanding traditional-method sparkling wines in Trentino, inspired by the great sparkling wines of Champagne. Decades of research and commitment to mountain viticulture established the estate as one of Italy’s leading producers of Trentodoc. Perlé Nero is Ferrari’s dedicated Blanc de Noirs, showcasing the depth and elegance Pinot Noir can achieve in the region. Ferrari wines have received major critical recognition, including Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso and high scores from international critics such as Vinous.
