Elouan Pinot Noir 2021

Elouan is a rich, expressive Oregon Pinot Noir that brings together fruit from three of the state’s most exciting coastal valleys: Umpqua, Willamette, and Rogue. Created by winemaker Joe Wagner, it reflects the “good light” of its name with a style that is both generous and layered, showcasing the kind of intensity and complexity that makes Oregon Pinot Noir so sought after.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Elouan shows a deep ruby-red color that immediately signals concentration. The nose is inviting and complex, with aromas of plum tart, cherry, wild berries, and a subtle smoky, gamey edge that adds depth and intrigue. The palate is full-flavored and long, driven by ripe cherry, blackberry, and boysenberry, followed by savory hints of freshly smoked bacon. It has a bold, intense profile for Pinot Noir, with enough structure and energy to suggest a few years of graceful aging, while still being delicious now.

Production
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from Oregon’s Umpqua, Willamette, and Rogue Valleys, regions known for offering the cool-climate conditions this grape thrives in. The 2016 vintage was warm and dry, allowing the fruit to reach excellent ripeness and concentration, resulting in a wine with notable depth and complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 14–16°C to preserve the wine’s freshness and aromatic detail. It pairs beautifully with roasted duck, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes, game birds, or pork with a smoky glaze; decanting for 20–30 minutes can help the aromas open up further.

Elouan is crafted by Belle Glos, the California-based producer founded by Joseph Wagner, who is known for making plush, fruit-forward Pinot Noir. With Elouan, Wagner turned his attention to Oregon, drawing on the state’s reputation for world-class Pinot Noir and helping bring a broader audience to the region’s distinctive style.
