Elena Walch, Gewürztraminer Kastelaz, 2022

Elena Walch’s 2022 Gewürztraminer Kastelaz is a particularly vivid, fruit-forward expression of the aromatic grape, combining tropical fruit and floral character with a lively freshness. Made from grapes grown in and around Tramin, the town closely associated with Gewürztraminer’s origins, it offers a taste of this Alto Adige specialty.

Tasting Notes
Bright and expressive, with aromas of ripe tropical fruit, freshly picked flowers and a hint of sweet spice. The palate echoes the floral and fruit notes, balanced by lively acidity and a rounded, medium-bodied texture. Enjoy it while its fresh, vibrant character is at its best; specific aging guidance is not provided.

Production
The grapes come from vineyards in and around Tramin in Alto Adige. On arrival at the winery, they are pressed promptly, and the must is stabilised at low temperature. After fermentation, the wine rests on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for several months.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled, around 8–10°C, with fish dishes or mature soft cheeses. Its aromatic fruit and refreshing acidity also make it a natural match for gently spiced food. Decanting is not necessary.
