Edi Keber Collio Bianco 2024 is an organic white wine that brings together three native varieties—Friulano, Malvasia Bianca and Ribolla Gialla—in a distinctive expression of Collio. Made at the historic Keber estate in Zegla, it reflects a local tradition rooted in the region’s marl-and-sandstone ponca soils.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with greenish highlights, it opens with aromas of yellow melon, pear, citrus, white flowers and almond. The palate is silky and balanced, with pronounced mineral character and a persistent finish.
Enjoy it while its fresh fruit and floral notes are vibrant; its structure and mineral edge may also reward short-term cellaring, though no specific aging window is provided.
Production
The grapes grow on south-facing slopes in Zegla, near Cormòns, where Guyot-trained vines take root in ponca, a stony formation of marl and loose sandstone. They are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and pressed as whole bunches. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks, followed by around five months of maturation, with part of the blend aged in barrels and the rest in concrete. The wine is bottled unfiltered.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled alongside soups, white meats and flavourful fish dishes. Its freshness and mineral character also make it a natural match for simply prepared seafood. Decanting is not necessary; open shortly before serving to let the aromas emerge.
Producer
The Edi Keber estate is based in Zegla and traces its roots to the 18th century. Its wines reflect the Collio’s established winemaking traditions and the distinctive ponca soils, with a particular focus on native grape varieties. This Collio Bianco continues that tradition through a classic local blend of Friulano, Malvasia Bianca and Ribolla Gialla.
