Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2020 Barolo Mosconi shows a deep, vibrant garnet core with youthful ruby highlights at the rim. The nose is immediately captivating, offering notes of cherry syrup, grenadine, and watermelon candy, layered with a subtle hint of Pastis-like anise, rose petals, and a whisper of sweet spice from the oak. This Barolo Mosconi is a natural partner for rich, savory dishes such as braised beef (brasato al Barolo), slow-cooked lamb shank, game birds, or truffle-infused risotto and tajarin pasta. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or mature pecorino. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F); in its youth, decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to let the aromatics unfurl and to soften the tannins. As the wine gains bottle age, a shorter decant or careful splash-decant to remove sediment will suffice.
