Description
Dujac Fils & Père Morey-Saint-Denis 2009 is a refined expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir, combining old-vine depth with the precision and elegance that Domaine Dujac is known for. Sourced from carefully selected parcels on limestone and clay slopes, it reflects both the character of Morey-Saint-Denis and the long-standing reputation of the domaine for producing wines of aromatic complexity and finesse.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby-red color, already hinting at its graceful evolution. The nose opens with layers of cherry, raspberry, forest floor, and subtle spice, offering a classic Burgundy profile with fine detail and lift.
On the palate, it is elegant yet concentrated, with silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a mineral thread that carries the wine to a long, harmonious finish. The 2009 vintage is now mature and expressive, but it still retains enough freshness and precision to suggest further medium-term aging potential.
Production
This wine comes from selected vineyards on limestone- and clay-rich slopes in Morey-Saint-Denis, where old Pinot Noir vines contribute structure, depth, and finesse. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with a significant proportion of whole clusters to enhance aromatic complexity and balance. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, with a moderate share of new oak used to add texture and spice without masking the purity of the fruit.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, veal, or richer preparations of salmon and tuna. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if you want the aromas to fully open, especially if serving soon after opening.
Producer
Domaine Dujac is one of Burgundy’s most respected estates, known for its thoughtful approach to Pinot Noir and its emphasis on elegance, transparency, and terroir expression. Founded in Morey-Saint-Denis, the domaine has earned a strong reputation for producing wines that age gracefully and consistently stand among the benchmark examples of the Côte de Nuits. The Fils & Père cuvée reflects that same identity, offering a more approachable expression while still carrying the hallmarks of the house style.
