Description
Duhart-Milon 2023 is a finely structured Pauillac that reflects the power, precision, and classic Cabernet-led character the appellation is known for. As a 4ème Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Classification, it carries the pedigree and consistency collectors look for in one of Bordeaux’s most respected Left Bank names.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby to garnet colour, hinting at concentration and youthful freshness. The nose tends to open with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and subtle floral and spice notes, while the palate is classically Pauillac: firm but refined tannins, bright acidity, and layers of dark fruit, tobacco, and mineral nuance.
This is a wine built for the cellar, with the balance and structure to develop beautifully over time. With age, expect the fruit to evolve toward more savoury, earthy, and truffle-like complexity, while the tannins soften and integrate.
Production
Duhart-Milon comes from the gravelly terroirs of Pauillac, where well-drained soils encourage Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen with intensity, finesse, and aromatic depth. Although detailed vintage-specific vinification information is not provided here, wines from this estate are traditionally crafted with careful parcel selection and a focused Bordeaux approach designed to preserve purity, structure, and ageing potential.
Food & Serving
A natural match for roast lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, game, and rich mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic depth.
Producer
Château Duhart-Milon is a historic Pauillac estate and one of the recognised Fourth Growths of the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Closely associated with the Lafite group in modern times, it has earned a strong reputation for producing elegant, classically styled Left Bank wines with excellent consistency and cellar-worthiness.
