Dugat-Py Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2012

Dugat-Py’s Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 is a beautifully composed expression of one of Burgundy’s most admired sites, made from old-vine Pinot Noir in the upper parcels of the vineyard. It combines power, finesse, and the kind of classic Grand Cru elegance that has made Charmes-Chambertin one of the names to know in the Côte de Nuits.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a refined deep ruby hue with the graceful transparency typical of great Burgundy. The nose has evolved into a layered bouquet of dark cherry, forest floor, subtle spice, and a touch of earthiness, all framed by Dugat-Py’s signature precision and élevage. The palate is harmonious and mature, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, elegant finish. The fruit has moved toward a more secondary, savory profile, while the structure remains intact, giving the wine excellent balance. Drinking very well now, it still has room to develop further complexity over the coming years.

Production
This Grand Cru comes from the upper parcels of Charmes-Chambertin, where old vines rooted in limestone and clay soils bring concentration as well as finesse. The grapes are harvested by hand with strict selection, then fermented in small open vats before ageing for around 18 months in new oak barrels, adding depth, structure, and polish without losing the vineyard’s distinctive character.

Food & Serving
Serve with roast duck, game birds, beef tenderloin, truffle dishes, or mushroom-based cuisine that complements its earthy, savoury complexity. Ideal serving temperature is 16–18°C, and while a brief decant can help open the wine if it is served young or just opened, older bottles should be handled gently and tasted before extended aeration.
