Donnafugata Tancredi 2021 is a refined Sicilian red that brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola, and Tannat in a stylish, modern blend. Created in collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, it combines elegance, ambition, and a distinctly Mediterranean soul, while paying tribute to the legacy of Giacomo Rallo and the visionary spirit behind Donnafugata.

Tasting Notes
Tancredi typically shows a deep ruby color with violet reflections, hinting at its youthful energy and structure. The nose is expressive and layered, with notes of dark berries, plum, sweet spice, tobacco, and Mediterranean herbs, framed by a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and polished, with ripe black fruit, supple tannins, and a balanced line of freshness that keeps the wine lively. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure, Nero d'Avola adds warmth and local character, while Tannat contributes depth and grip. It has the balance to drink beautifully now, but enough backbone to evolve further over the next several years.

Production
The grapes come from Donnafugata’s Contessa Entellina vineyards in western Sicily, a site shaped by warm sunshine, cooling breezes, and soils that help preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. The estate’s elevated, almost dreamlike setting has long been central to Donnafugata’s identity and to the story behind Tancredi. Harvest is carried out with careful selection of the grapes, followed by separate vinification of the varieties to preserve each one’s character. The blend is then assembled to highlight harmony, structure, and elegance, with aging used to refine the wine’s texture and deepen its aromatic profile.

Food & Serving
Tancredi pairs well with grilled lamb, roasted beef, wild mushroom risotto, duck, and mature hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 30-60 minutes if drinking it young, to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
