Description

Dominus Estate Othello 2023 offers an inviting, more approachable expression of the estate, led by Cabernet Sauvignon with a supporting share of Petit Verdot. Drawn primarily from the front of the property near Highway 29, it is the most lightly new-oak-aged of Dominus’s three estate wines.

Tasting Notes
The nose brings together cherry, pomegranate and cassis, with subtle herbal notes and a hint of orange peel. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it has a silky texture and finishes with a lively, cranberry-like tartness.

Production
The fruit comes primarily from the front section of the Dominus Estate property, closest to Highway 29. The 2023 blend is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot, and spends a comparatively short time in new oak barrels, which make up 15–20% of the oak used. Harvesting and vinification details are not specified.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C. Its cassis and cherry flavours, supple texture and fresh finish should pair well with roast lamb, grilled steak, or mushroom dishes. A short decant of around 30 minutes can help the wine open up; a precise drinking window has not been provided.

Producer
Dominus Estate was founded by Christian Moueix, the Bordeaux-born winemaker and négociant, at Napa Valley’s historic Napanook vineyard. The estate’s wines combine Cabernet-led blends with a strong focus on expressing their Napa Valley site.
