Dominus Estate’s 2016 Napanook is a polished Napa Valley red that brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc in a beautifully balanced proprietary blend. It shows the site’s signature depth and structure, with a refined style that reflects the estate’s long-standing reputation for producing wines of exceptional precision and character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is a very deep purple-black, almost opaque in color. The bouquet is expressive yet still unfolding, with notes of violets, anise seed, truffles, and lavender rising above layers of warm cassis, blackberry jam, ripe plums, cedar box, chocolate, rare beef, and cardamom. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a firm, textural frame and very ripe tannins. Black and blue fruits emerge in layers, supported by earthy nuances and a lively sense of freshness on the finish. While already impressive, it has the structure to age gracefully and continue gaining complexity over time.

Production
Napanook 2016 is crafted from a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and 7% Cabernet Franc, and matured in French oak with 20% new barrels. Produced in limited quantities, with only 3,500 cases made, it reflects the careful selection and meticulous winemaking associated with Dominus Estate in Napa Valley.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, braised short ribs, venison, or rich mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least one hour if opening young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
