Dominus 2021 is a beautifully poised Napa Valley Bordeaux-style red that combines power, precision, and remarkable restraint. Crafted from 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, it delivers the kind of depth and site-driven character that has made Dominus one of California’s most revered names. Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2021 Dominus shows a deep, inky core that hints at its concentration and intensity. The aromatics are layered and compelling, led by black cherry and blackcurrant, then lifted by notes of crushed stone and pencil shavings that add an unmistakable mineral edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, and structured, with abundant tannins that are already impressively ripe and balanced rather than aggressive or over-polished. The wine finishes long and refined, with a subtle mocha note that lingers beautifully. While it is already harmonious, this is a wine built for patience and should reward cellaring for 5 to 10 years, gaining further nuance and complexity over time.

Dominus 2021 is sourced from the estate’s Napa Valley vineyards, where gravelly, well-drained soils and a warm California climate help Cabernet Sauvignon achieve full ripeness while retaining freshness and definition. The blend is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, and 40% of the wine was matured in new French oak, adding structure, polish, and a discreet touch of spice and toast without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a wine that feels both deeply rooted in its terroir and meticulously crafted.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for prime rib, grilled ribeye, lamb rack, or slow-braised short ribs, as well as aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or mature cheddar. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 to 2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics to open and the tannins to soften slightly.
