Dominus 2017 Magnum is a flagship Napa Valley red that combines power, precision, and remarkable finesse in a striking large-format bottle. Crafted from a classic Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it reflects the depth and discipline that have made Dominus one of California’s most respected estate wines since its founding by Christian Moueix.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Dominus 2017 shows a deep, dark ruby-red color that hints at its intensity and concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with black cherry, cassis, tobacco, spice, and a subtle cedar note, while the palate is full-bodied and tightly structured with velvety, well-integrated tannins. The wine delivers a dense core of dark fruit balanced by earthy, savory nuances and a long, elegant finish marked by touches of vanilla and oak. Built for the cellar, it has excellent aging potential and will continue to gain complexity over many years.

Production
The grapes were hand-harvested from the best parcels at Dominus Estate in Napa Valley, with careful sorting to preserve only the finest fruit. The 2017 growing season began with unusually heavy winter and spring rainfall, followed by warm conditions and several intense heat waves that accelerated ripening and reduced yields, making meticulous fruit selection especially important. Fermentation took place in small open-top vats to support gentle extraction and preserve purity, and the wine was then matured for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels. The result is a wine of concentration, structure, and remarkable balance, with production limited to just 2,800 cases.

Food & Serving
This is a wine best served with rich, flavorful dishes such as beef tenderloin, grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb, or game served with mushroom-based sauces. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for at least 1–2 hours is recommended to allow the wine to раскрыw its full aromatic depth and texture.
