Dominus 2003

Dominus 2003 is a striking Napa Valley red that combines power, precision, and remarkable complexity. Built from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it shows the depth and structure that have made Dominus one of California’s most respected estate wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a deep, dark ruby-red color that signals concentration and age-worthy intensity. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with black cherry, cassis, tobacco, spice, and a refined touch of cedar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and tightly structured, with polished tannins and a richly concentrated core of dark fruit balanced by earthy, savory nuances. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with subtle vanilla and oak spice adding lift and finesse. While already expressive, Dominus 2003 still has the structure to continue evolving beautifully over time, gaining further complexity with careful cellar aging.

Production
The grapes were hand-harvested from the finest parcels of Dominus Estate in California, where careful fruit selection and gentle handling are central to preserving purity and balance. Fermentation took place in small open-top vats to encourage controlled extraction, followed by maturation in French oak barrels for around 18 months, which helped shape the wine’s texture and refined aromatic profile.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for premium beef dishes, lamb, venison, braised short ribs, and richly flavored mushroom preparations. Serve at 16–18°C and, if possible, decant for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatic layers and structure to fully open.
