Domini Veneti Amarone della Valpolicella Classico or'Jago 2018 is a powerful and refined expression of Amarone from the heart of Valpolicella Classica. Made by Domini Veneti, it stands out for its impressive structure, concentration, and deep, almost impenetrable ruby color, all wrapped in the elegance that has made Amarone one of Italy’s most admired wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense, deep ruby-red hue with remarkable depth and density. The nose is rich and layered, typically opening with ripe dark cherries, dried plums, blackberries, and hints of sweet spices, cocoa, and subtle balsamic notes.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with concentrated dark fruit, firm yet polished tannins, and the hallmark richness of Amarone. The balance between power and elegance suggests very good aging potential, with the wine likely to gain further complexity over the years as its dried-fruit character, spice, and savory notes evolve.
Production
This wine comes from Valpolicella Classica in Veneto, one of the most prestigious areas for Amarone production, where hillside vineyards benefit from excellent exposure and well-drained soils. The classic Amarone method involves carefully selected grapes that are harvested by hand and then dried before vinification, concentrating flavor, sugar, and structure before fermentation and aging.
Food & Serving
Best served with rich, flavorful dishes such as braised beef, game, aged cheeses, or slow-cooked lamb. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the wine’s depth and aromatic complexity to show at its best. Decanting for an hour or more is recommended, especially in its youth, to soften the structure and open up the bouquet.
Producer
Domini Veneti is the winemaking project of the Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, a respected name in the region with deep roots in Valpolicella’s wine tradition. The winery is known for championing the classic style of the area and for producing wines that express both regional identity and consistent quality. Over the years, it has earned strong recognition for its skilled interpretation of Amarone and other Valpolicella wines.
