Description
Domaines Auriol Bacchus & Coutumes Bio Rouge 2024 is a juicy, organically grown red from Languedoc that captures the easygoing charm of southern France. Made from Merlot and Carignan, it balances ripe fruit, softness, and a fresh, modern style that makes it immediately appealing. The wine also reflects Domaines Auriol’s long-standing commitment to organic viticulture and sustainable winemaking in the region.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a clear ruby-red color. The nose opens with aromas of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and red forest berries, layered with subtle Mediterranean spice and a hint of liquorice.
The palate is round, juicy, and supple, with ripe tannins, bright acidity, and a clean, fruit-forward finish. Merlot brings softness and body, while Carignan adds freshness, spice, and lively red fruit. This is a wine meant for early enjoyment, though its balanced structure should keep it drinking well over the next couple of years.
Production
The grapes are organically farmed in the warm Mediterranean climate of Languedoc-Roussillon, where abundant sunshine encourages full ripeness and a naturally generous fruit profile. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and varietal character, followed by a short maturation period that helps soften the tannins and bring the blend into harmony.
Food & Serving
A versatile food wine, it pairs well with grilled meats, roasted chicken, charcuterie, vegetable dishes, and Mediterranean fare such as ratatouille or herbed lamb. Serve slightly chilled at around 14–16°C to highlight its freshness and fruit. Decanting is not necessary, though a short aeration can help open up the aromas if you want to serve it right away.
Producer
Domaines Auriol is a family-owned producer in Languedoc with deep roots in organic winemaking. The Vialade family were pioneers of organic wine in southern France, and today the estate continues to focus on sustainable farming and modern cellar work across several terroirs in the region. Their style combines respect for tradition with a clear aim: to make authentic, approachable wines with plenty of freshness and drinking pleasure.
