Description

Domaine Truchetet Chambolle-Musigny 2023 is a refined expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most coveted villages. This cuvée captures the hallmark Chambolle character of perfume, finesse and silken texture, presented here in a vibrant, youthful vintage. It’s a wine that balances immediate pleasure with the promise of graceful development in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Chambolle-Musigny shows a bright ruby to garnet hue with a translucent core and lively, violet reflections. The nose is delicately perfumed, offering lifted aromas of wild red berries, cherry, crushed raspberry and red currant, wrapped in notes of rose petals, subtle spice, and a hint of chalky minerality. On the palate, the wine is poised and elegant, with fine, silky tannins and a juicy, red-fruited core. Flavors of ripe strawberry, cherry and pomegranate are layered with nuances of white pepper, dried flowers and a touch of forest floor, supported by fresh, linear acidity. The finish is long and graceful, marked by mineral tension and a gentle, savory undertone. Enjoyable in its youth for its purity and vibrancy, this 2023 has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next 8–12 years, gaining more complexity and tertiary notes with time in bottle.

Production
Sourced from village-level parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, this wine reflects the commune’s classic mix of limestone-rich and clay-limestone soils that lend both finesse and intensity to Pinot Noir. The vines are typically tended with meticulous, sustainable vineyard practices, with yields kept low to concentrate flavor and express terroir. Harvest is carried out by hand, allowing for careful selection of perfectly ripe, healthy grapes. In the cellar, the fruit is gently destemmed (often with a proportion of whole clusters retained, depending on the vintage) and fermented in temperature-controlled vats using native or carefully selected yeasts. Gentle extraction through remontage and pigeage preserves the wine’s elegance, followed by élevage in French oak barrels—usually with a moderate proportion of new oak—to add texture and nuance without overwhelming the purity of fruit and the signature Chambolle finesse.

Food & Serving
Domaine Truchetet Chambolle-Musigny 2023 is an ideal partner for refined, subtly flavored dishes that highlight its delicacy rather than overpower it. Think roast chicken with herbs, veal chops, duck breast with cherries, or mushroom-based dishes such as porcini risotto and truffle pasta; it also pairs beautifully with semi-soft cheeses like Comté or mild, aged goat’s cheese. Serve at 15–16°C (59–61°F) to showcase its aromatic detail and freshness. In its youth, a light 30–45 minute decant is recommended to let the wine open up and soften the tannins; as it ages, decanting can be shorter and more delicate, primarily to remove any sediment.

Producer
Domaine Truchetet is a family-run Burgundy estate that has built a quiet but serious reputation for crafting precise, terroir-driven wines. Based in the heart of the Côte d’Or, the domaine focuses on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from carefully selected parcels, working closely with the nuances of each appellation to produce wines of clarity and character. Over the years, Domaine Truchetet has embraced meticulous vineyard work and thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking, positioning itself as a noteworthy name among Burgundy’s new generation of quality-focused producers. Their Chambolle-Musigny bottling underscores the domaine’s commitment to elegance, purity of fruit and a transparent expression of place, contributing to the region’s ongoing reputation for some of the world’s most refined Pinot Noir.
