Production
The 2019 Collection Charles Giraud is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre from the sun-drenched, stony terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône, where galets roulés (rounded river stones), clay and sand combine to give both power and aromatic lift. The old vines are typically farmed at low yields to concentrate flavor and complexity, and harvesting is done by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe, healthy grapes are selected. After careful sorting, the Grenache and Mourvèdre are vinified with a focus on preserving fruit purity and terroir character, then matured in demi-muids (large oak barrels), which give gentle oxygenation and subtle spice without overwhelming the natural intensity of the wine.

This robust Châteauneuf-du-Pape is ideal alongside rich, savory dishes such as slow-braised lamb shank, roast duck, beef short ribs, game birds, and hearty stews with Mediterranean herbs or black olives.
