Description

Domaine Robert Groffier’s Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2012 is a remarkable expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most coveted lieux-dits. Sought after for its combination of perfume, precision and structure, it reflects both the elegance of Chambolle-Musigny and the seriousness of a great vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic allure of fine Burgundy: layered red and black berry fruit, a lifted aromatic profile and a translucent, graceful color. The bouquet unfolds with raspberry, blackberry, black truffle, sous-bois, sweet red berries, cinnamon and a hint of mint, evolving toward darker tones with air. On the palate, the wine is serious and well-defined, with saline freshness, bitter cherry, brambly fruit and a subtle tarry edge. There is excellent balance and firm structure beneath the perfume, suggesting a wine that is still youthful and needs time to fully open. It should age beautifully, gaining complexity and harmony over the years.

Production
Sourced from Les Amoureuses, one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most celebrated Premier Cru climats, the wine comes from a site known for producing refined, mineral-tinged Pinot Noir with exceptional aromatic complexity. The 2012 vintage in Burgundy favored wines with freshness, focus and strong terroir expression, and this cuvée reflects that character. Vinification at Domaine Robert Groffier is geared toward preserving precision, balance and the site’s natural elegance.

Food & Serving
Ideal with refined dishes that echo its finesse, such as roasted duck, pigeon, game birds, veal with mushrooms, or earthy mushroom risotto. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for a short period if drinking young to help the bouquet open and the structure soften.

Producer
Domaine Robert Groffier is a highly respected family estate in Burgundy, particularly renowned for its holdings in Chambolle-Musigny and Clos de Bèze. Under the direction of Nicolas Groffier, the domaine has earned recognition for producing wines of greater finesse and transparency, with a strong emphasis on terroir expression. Its wines are among the most admired in the Côte de Nuits.
