Description
Domaine Pierre Gelin’s Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2010 comes from one of Burgundy’s most historic and revered vineyards. Made exclusively from hand-picked Pinot Noir, this is a profound, age-worthy red that combines the site’s renowned complexity and mineral character with the elegance of an outstanding vintage.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour, with developing garnet tones that reflect its maturity. Its layered bouquet opens with ripe cherry and raspberry, followed by nuances of forest floor, sweet spice, truffle and subtle oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and finely structured, balancing concentrated red fruit with fresh acidity, mineral depth and silky tannins. The finish is long, persistent and harmonious, with savoury and earthy notes emerging as the wine evolves in the glass.
The excellent 2010 vintage provided the balance, concentration and freshness needed for extended ageing. With proper cellaring, this Grand Cru can continue to develop greater aromatic complexity and depth for approximately 20–25 years from harvest.
Production
The grapes come from Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits, a historic Burgundy site celebrated for producing Pinot Noir of exceptional depth, structure and longevity. The fruit is hand-harvested and carefully selected before vinification, with maturation in oak contributing gentle spice and toast nuances without overshadowing the vineyard character. The 2010 growing season produced grapes with excellent ripeness, concentration and natural freshness.
Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to rest and come to temperature. Decant for around one hour before serving, particularly if the wine is showing youthful structure or sediment, while older bottles should be decanted gently and briefly. Its depth and earthy complexity make it a natural partner for game, roast lamb, truffle-based dishes and mature cheeses.
Producer
Domaine Pierre Gelin is a Burgundy producer associated with the prestigious vineyards of the Côte de Nuits. This Chambertin-Clos de Bèze bottling reflects the significance of its Grand Cru origin and the estate’s focus on expressing Pinot Noir with depth, balance and ageing potential. It is a compelling choice for Burgundy enthusiasts and collectors seeking a mature example from one of the region’s most distinguished appellations.
