Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2022 Les Fichots shows a luminous ruby core with translucent edges, hinting at both concentration and elegance. On the palate, the wine is poised and finely etched: juicy, precise red and black berry fruit wrapped in graceful, silky tannins. Production
Les Fichots is a small premier cru climat on the slopes of Pernand-Vergelesses, with a southwest exposition that ensures generous afternoon light and excellent ripening conditions. The vines here grow on stony clay soils over limestone, a classic Burgundian mix that provides both concentration and a marked mineral line in the finished wine. Grapes are picked by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and sort rigorously in the vineyard and cellar. Domaine Petit-Roy vinifies this cuvée with a significant proportion of whole clusters, allowing the stems to contribute perfume, structure and complexity. Fermentation proceeds with gentle extraction—more infusion than heavy pumping over—so that the delicacy of Pinot Noir is preserved. The wine is then matured in carefully selected barrels (with a restrained use of new oak) to polish the tannins and add subtle spice, without overshadowing the purity of fruit and terroir.
