Domaine Parigot Pommard 1er Cru Les Charmots 2023 comes from one of Pommard’s most quietly admired Premier Cru sites, where north-east facing slopes bring a rare mix of structure, lift, and finesse. Crafted from Pinot Noir by Domaine Parigot, this is a terroir-driven Burgundy that balances classic Pommard depth with a more floral, approachable expression.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, lively ruby colour. The nose is layered with red cherries, dried flowers, aromatic herbs, and a subtle earthy note of forest floor. On the palate, it is finely structured and elegant, with fresh acidity and silky tannins framing juicy red fruit and a mineral edge. It has both charm and depth, and while it is already appealing, it should also age beautifully over the coming years, developing greater complexity and savoury nuance.

Production
The grapes come from old-vine Pinot Noir in the Premier Cru climat Les Charmots, a site known for offering a little more openness and floral character than Pommard’s heavier south-facing terroirs. The 2023 vintage benefited from moderate warmth and even ripening, giving fruit with excellent balance and freshness. Harvested by hand, the wine was vinified with gentle extraction and a proportion of whole clusters to add structure and aromatic complexity, then matured for around 12–14 months in French oak barrels, including a moderate share of new oak to support rather than dominate the site expression.

Food & Serving
This is a natural partner for roast duck, beef fillet, game birds, veal, or mushroom-based dishes, especially those with a refined, earthy character. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young to allow the aromatics and texture to fully unfold.
