Description
Domaine Méo-Camuzet Richebourg Grand Cru 2007 is a beautifully poised expression of one of Burgundy’s most celebrated vineyards, combining Richebourg’s natural depth and authority with the vintage’s more open, immediately appealing character. This is a wine that captures both power and finesse, with a historical pedigree rooted in one of Vosne-Romanée’s most revered Grand Cru sites.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby core with the first signs of garnet at the rim, hinting at its graceful evolution. The bouquet is layered and refined, offering ripe cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, lifted by violet and rose petal, then unfolding into truffle, spice, forest floor and a subtle touch of toasted oak.
On the palate, the wine is silky and textured, with mature, fine-grained tannins and a bright line of acidity that keeps everything fresh and precise. Flavours of dark chocolate, liquorice, dried herbs and mineral notes build across the palate, finishing long, harmonious and gently spiced. It is drinking very well now, yet still has the structure to develop further over the next 8–10 years.
Production
Richebourg Grand Cru lies in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, where Burgundy’s limestone-rich soils and superb exposure help produce wines of remarkable concentration, fragrance and depth. For this 2007 vintage, the fruit was harvested in a year marked by early accessibility and aromatic clarity, resulting in a wine that is generous, elegant and finely balanced. Vinification follows the meticulous, low-intervention approach associated with Domaine Méo-Camuzet, designed to preserve the vineyard’s character, texture and layered aromatic precision.
Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for game dishes, roast lamb, duck and richly flavoured mushroom or truffle-based preparations. It is best served slightly cool for a grand cru red, around 16–18°C, and will benefit from decanting for about 1 hour if opened young, or just a gentle splash decant if already mature.
Producer
Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of Burgundy’s most respected estates, with deep roots in Vosne-Romanée and a reputation for producing wines of extraordinary finesse, precision and site expression. Under the stewardship of Jean-Nicolas Méo, the domaine has become especially admired for its balance of traditional Burgundian character and modern exactitude, and it is now regarded as a benchmark producer in the Côte de Nuits.
