Domaine Maillard Corton Blanc Grand Cru 2022

A rare white Corton Grand Cru from one of Burgundy’s most respected family domaines, Domaine Maillard Père & Fils. Sourced from a tiny 0.34-hectare parcel in Les Renardes on the Corton hill, this Chardonnay is produced in extremely limited quantities, with only around 1,500 bottles made each year. It is a striking example of how powerful, age-worthy white Burgundy can be.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the depth and concentration expected from a Grand Cru site, with a polished, luminous profile. The nose is marked by ripe stone fruit, especially peach and nectarine, layered with subtle oak, fine spice, and a saline, mineral freshness. On the palate, the wine combines richness and precision beautifully. The barrel ageing is seamlessly integrated, adding texture and breadth without overwhelming the fruit, while the finish is long and refreshing, shaped by a distinct mineral line. This is a white Burgundy with excellent aging potential and can comfortably develop for up to 10 years from the vintage.

Production
The grapes come from a small parcel in Les Renardes on the Corton hill, an exceptional Grand Cru terroir known for producing wines of depth, structure, and character. Harvested with careful sorting in the vineyard, the Chardonnay is fermented in traditional 228-litre Burgundy barrels and aged for 18 months before bottling, allowing the wine to gain complexity and harmony.

Food & Serving
This wine is a superb match for turbot, rich fish dishes with a creamy or intensely flavoured sauce, and foie gras. It also pairs very well with mature cheeses. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if the wine is young and especially tightly wound.
