Domaine Machard de Gramont Puligny-Montrachet Les Houlières 2023 is a refined white Burgundy that captures the poise and precision Puligny-Montrachet is famous for. Made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from the single vineyard Les Houlières, it combines limestone-driven elegance, fine texture, and a subtle touch of oak, making it a distinguished expression of one of Burgundy’s most respected terroirs.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2023 vintage shows a bright pale gold hue with a youthful sheen. The nose opens with citrus peel, green apple, and white flowers, followed by discreet layers of vanilla, toasted nuts, and a hint of wet stone minerality.
On the palate, it is generous yet finely etched, with a creamy core balanced by fresh, lively acidity and a long, mineral finish. The wine already offers impressive harmony, but it should also age gracefully over the next several years, gaining additional depth and complexity.
Production
Les Houlières is a well-situated Puligny-Montrachet vineyard with classic Burgundy soils of limestone and clay, ideally suited to Chardonnay of precision and tension. The grapes are harvested from this single site and vinified with care to preserve freshness and site expression, while maturation in French oak adds subtle complexity without overshadowing the fruit.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with fine fish dishes, shellfish, roast poultry, and creamy cheeses. Serve it at 10–12°C to bring out its aromatic clarity and textural balance; decanting is generally not necessary, though a short airing can help if the bottle is opened young.
