Description

Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron is one of Burgundy’s most admired estates, known for crafting Pinot Noir with remarkable finesse, depth, and perfume. This Romanée-Saint-Vivant combines the grace of its prestigious Vosne-Romanée terroir with the domaine’s signature concentration and silken texture, making it a standout expression of the appellation’s historic pedigree.

Tasting Notes
Saturated dark red-ruby in color, it opens with a beautifully layered nose of dark cherry, raspberry, mocha, cocoa powder, and a pronounced stony minerality. There is also a subtle floral lift in the background, adding elegance to the wine’s earthy, soil-driven character. On the palate, the wine is extraordinarily seamless and refined, with a liquid-silk texture that seems to coat the mouth from start to finish. The fruit is concentrated yet weightless, supported by supple tannins and a long, perfumed finish that lingers with mineral precision. Built for graceful aging, it should continue to evolve beautifully over many years, gaining complexity and nuance.

Production
The vines grow on limestone-rich soils with pockets of clay in one of Burgundy’s most celebrated sites, where the terroir naturally favors elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir. The estate harvests relatively early and works with low yields, typically around 28–30 hl/ha, to preserve freshness and intensity. Fermentation and élevage are carried out with a strong focus on purity and structure, with the domaine using 100% new French oak and minimal intervention, including filtration only at bottling.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for refined dishes such as duck breast, roast pigeon, veal tenderloin, truffled mushroom risotto, or game birds with a light jus. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if the wine is still youthful, allowing its aromas to fully unfold.

Producer
Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron was founded in 1926 and has since become a benchmark estate in Burgundy, particularly in the Côte de Nuits. The domaine experienced a major revival under Sophie Meunier and her husband Alain, whose stewardship helped elevate its reputation for precision and quality, and that legacy is now being carried forward by their son Louis. Certified organic since the 1990s, the estate is respected for its meticulous vineyard work, including horse plowing and biodynamic-inspired practices, as well as for producing wines of exceptional depth and elegance.
