Description
Domaine Hubert Lamy’s Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Haute Densité 2023 is a striking expression of Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most respected growers. Crafted from ultra-high-density vines, it reflects the domaine’s pursuit of precision, concentration, and mineral drive in a style that feels both intensely modern and deeply rooted in Burgundian tradition.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows a bright, luminous white-gold hue. The nose opens with a deeply saline, almost marine character, with notes reminiscent of oyster shell, sea cave, and crushed stone, gradually unfurling into more subtle floral and citrus nuances.
On the palate, it is taut, focused, and beautifully tense, with a mineral core that gives the wine real energy and depth. There is notable weight without heaviness, and the finish is long, incisive, and nervy. While already compelling, it should gain additional complexity with a few years in bottle and has strong aging potential.
Production
This Puligny-Montrachet comes from Les Tremblots, a site in Burgundy where Domaine Hubert Lamy applies its signature haute densité approach: vines are planted at exceptionally high density to encourage deeper root competition and greater concentration in the berries. The result is a smaller crop with heightened mineral expression and structure.
Harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on preserving purity and site character, the wine is made in a style that emphasizes precision, freshness, and terroir transparency.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for refined seafood dishes such as oysters, scallops, lobster, or turbot, as well as roast poultry, creamy mushroom dishes, and delicate hard cheeses. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if opened young to allow the aromatics to expand.
Producer
Domaine Hubert Lamy, based in Saint-Aubin, has become one of Burgundy’s most admired domaines for its exacting vineyard work and distinctive, terroir-driven whites. Under Olivier Lamy, the estate has gained particular recognition for its innovative high-density plantings and its ability to produce wines of remarkable tension, clarity, and longevity.
