Description

Domaine Guillemard-Clerc Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Coucherias" 2022 is a characterful Pinot Noir from a rare monopole site in the south-facing slopes above Beaune, giving it both generosity and precision. Crafted by a small family domaine rooted in Côte de Beaune tradition, it combines warm-vintage ripeness with a distinctly mineral Burgundian edge.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, polished ruby hue. The nose is open and expressive, with ripe strawberries, violet, mocha, and a subtle earthy undertone of forest floor. The palate is supple and mouth-filling, carrying layers of red berry fruit, gentle oak spice, and a firm streak of limestone-driven minerality. Tannins are fine and well integrated, leading to a long, elegant finish. While already charming now, it has the structure and balance to develop beautifully over the next 5 to 10 years, and likely longer in a good cellar.

Production
The grapes come from Clos des Coucherias, a Premier Cru monopole exclusively owned by the domaine, located on a warm, sunny slope above Beaune. Old vines are hand-harvested and farmed without synthetic sprays, reflecting a sustainable approach in both vineyard and cellar. Vinification is traditional: the fruit is fully destemmed, fermented with native yeasts, and gently managed with pigeage to preserve finesse. The wine is then matured for around 12 months in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new oak, to balance fruit purity with texture and depth.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile Burgundy for refined dishes such as roast duck, pan-seared guinea fowl, herb-crusted lamb, mushroom risotto, or truffle-based pasta. Serve at around 15–16°C to allow the aromatics and texture to shine, and decant for 30–60 minutes if opening young to let the wine unfold.

Producer
Domaine Guillemard-Clerc is a small family-owned estate based in Puligny-Montrachet, with deep roots in the Côte de Beaune. The domaine is known for its thoughtful, terroir-driven wines and its commitment to sustainable work in the vineyard and cellar. Its reputation is built on precision, authenticity, and expressive Burgundy that honors both place and tradition.
