Description
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod’s Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru ‘Les Cras’ 2011 is a refined Burgundy Pinot Noir that captures the elegance and mineral precision of one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most admired sites. From the limestone-rich slopes of Les Cras, this is a wine prized for its finesse, aromatic lift, and classic Côte de Nuits sophistication.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a graceful ruby hue that reflects its youthful Burgundy character. The nose is delicate and expressive, with aromas of cherry, red currant, floral notes, and a subtle spice that unfolds with air.
On the palate, the wine is finely balanced, with fresh red fruit, silky tannins, and a distinct mineral edge that brings clarity and length. The 2011 vintage lends a lively, elegant profile rather than sheer power, making this a wine that can be enjoyed now for its brightness or cellared for another 5–10 years to gain further depth and complexity.
Production
Made from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from the Premier Cru Les Cras vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny, the grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to preserve quality. Fermentation is carried out in a traditional style with native yeasts, and the wine is then matured in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new oak, to add structure and nuanced complexity while keeping the focus on the terroir.
Food & Serving
This Burgundy is a natural match for roast poultry, duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, and refined preparations of veal or lamb. Serve it slightly cool, around 15–16°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to help the aromas open fully.
