Description

Domaine Etienne Sauzet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2019 is one of the domaine’s rarest and most coveted cuvées, combining Grand Cru power with remarkable poise and weightless elegance. From one of Burgundy’s most distinguished white wine sites, this vintage shows the intensity of ripe fruit alongside the precision and purity that have made Etienne Sauzet a benchmark name in Puligny-Montrachet.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine opens with a subtle, luminous character, showing citrus, yellow plum, orange peel, white flowers, and crushed limestone, with a faint reductive note that adds complexity rather than obscuring the fruit. There is an immediate sense of finesse and lift, with the aromatic profile unfolding gradually and beautifully. On the palate, it is richly layered yet never heavy, with notes of tropical fruit, lemon cream, stone fruit, and a delicate buttery nuance. Bright acidity and a chalky mineral backbone give the wine tension and structure, while the texture remains satiny, deep, and precise. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering citrus, stone, and floral echoes, and the wine has exceptional aging potential, easily developing over many years in bottle.

Production
Sourced from the Grand Cru vineyard of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet in Burgundy, the wine reflects one of the most revered terroirs for Chardonnay, where limestone-rich soils and an ideal exposure contribute to both richness and tension. The 2019 vintage brought ripe fruit and concentration, which Sauzet channels into a wine of clarity and balance through careful harvesting and a restrained vinification approach that preserves freshness, texture, and site expression.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, turbot, scallops, roast poultry with cream sauce, and elegant mushroom preparations. Serve it at around 10–12°C, and consider decanting young bottles briefly to allow the wine’s aromatics and layered texture to fully open.

Producer
Domaine Etienne Sauzet is one of the great names in Puligny-Montrachet, with a long-standing reputation for producing some of Burgundy’s most admired white wines. The domaine has played an important role in defining the style of the region’s top Chardonnay sites, and its Grand Cru bottlings are widely recognized for their precision, balance, and ability to age gracefully. Over time, Sauzet has earned a place among the elite producers of white Burgundy.
