Description
Domaine Dujac’s Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts 2018 is a polished, site-driven Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most admired estates. Sourced from a revered Premier Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, it combines the finesse and perfume expected from the appellation with Dujac’s hallmark precision and depth.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine typically shows a bright ruby color with impressive clarity and vibrancy. The nose is layered and expressive, offering red and dark cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, spice, and earthy mineral notes, with subtle oak framing rather than dominating the aromatics.
The palate is refined and beautifully textured, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a seamless balance between red fruit purity and savory complexity. Aux Malconsorts often brings a powerful yet elegant profile, and the 2018 vintage should offer both generosity and structure. It has excellent aging potential and can develop beautifully over the next 10 to 15 years, or longer in a strong cellar.
Production
Aux Malconsorts is a prized Premier Cru site in Vosne-Romanée, known for its limestone-rich soils and its ability to produce Pinot Noir with both perfume and seriousness. Domaine Dujac is known for attentive vineyard work and a restrained, detail-oriented vinification approach that preserves freshness and site expression. The result is a wine that reflects both the character of the vineyard and the estate’s understated style.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with fine poultry such as roasted duck or guinea fowl, as well as dishes featuring mushrooms, truffle, veal, or game birds. It is best served slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and will benefit from decanting for about 30 to 60 minutes when young to allow the aromatics to open.
Producer
Domaine Dujac was founded in the late 1960s in Morey-Saint-Denis and has since become one of Burgundy’s benchmark estates, admired for its elegant, terroir-transparent wines. The domaine is especially respected for its carefully farmed vineyards and refined winemaking across some of the region’s most prestigious appellations. Its wines are consistently sought after by collectors for their balance, energy, and aging potential.
