Description

Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2009 is a striking expression of one of Morey-Saint-Denis’ most celebrated Grand Cru sites. Made from Pinot Noir with Dujac’s hallmark use of whole clusters and careful élevage in French oak, it combines depth, perfume, and precision in a way that has made the domaine one of Burgundy’s most admired names.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red colour, hinting at both concentration and maturity. The nose opens with dark cherries, blackberries, violet, and a layer of subtle spice, lifted by the mineral tension that Clos de la Roche is known for. The palate is concentrated yet refined, with silky tannins, vivid acidity, and a long, elegant finish. The 2009 vintage now feels beautifully rounded and approachable, but it still has enough structure and energy to continue evolving for several more years.

Production
This Grand Cru comes from Clos de la Roche in Morey-Saint-Denis, where limestone and clay soils, together with old Pinot Noir vines, create wines of power, finesse, and complexity. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with a significant proportion of whole clusters to enhance texture, aromatic complexity, and structural detail. After fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barrels, including a measured amount of new oak to add subtle spice and depth without masking the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for dishes such as duck breast, roast pigeon, lamb with herbs, venison, or mushroom-based recipes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently for about 30–60 minutes if opening now to allow the bouquet to fully unfold.

Producer
Domaine Dujac was founded in 1968 and quickly established itself as one of Burgundy’s benchmark producers, known for a distinctive style that balances elegance, aromatic complexity, and structure. The domaine has played an important role in shaping the modern reputation of Morey-Saint-Denis and the wider Côte de Nuits, and its wines are highly sought after by collectors around the world.
