Description
Domaine Duchemin’s Puligny-Montrachet Le Trezin 2023 is a beautifully poised Chardonnay from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated villages. Sourced from a high, limestone-rich site in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, it captures the finesse, mineral drive, and quiet complexity that make this appellation so prized. Benjamin Duchemin’s careful élevage gives the wine both precision and depth, with a classic Burgundian elegance.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a delicate pale golden color with a subtle green hue. The nose is expressive and layered, unfolding with notes of apple, pear, acacia blossom, sea buckthorn, butter, hazelnut, and fresh croissant.
The palate is deep and highly structured, balancing ripe fruit with bright acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone. The finish is long and refined, with enough concentration to reward a few years in bottle. It can be enjoyed now, but will gain even more complexity with 2–3 years of cellar time.
Production
The fruit comes from Le Trezin, a vineyard site sitting around 300 meters above sea level, where limestone and marl soils lend the wine its signature tension and mineral character. After pressing and fermentation, the wine is matured for 11 months in French oak barrels, a winemaking approach that adds texture and nuance without overshadowing the purity of the Chardonnay.
Food & Serving
This is a natural match for refined dishes such as grilled or poached fish, lobster, scallops, roast chicken, poultry in cream sauce, or mature soft cheeses. Serve at around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if opening in its youth to allow the aromas and texture to open up more fully.
Producer
Domaine Duchemin is a Burgundy producer known for crafting wines that reflect terroir with clarity and restraint.
