Domaine du Pégaü’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2019 is one of the appellation’s most iconic wines, prized for its depth, balance, and exceptional value. Based largely on old-vine Grenache and rounded out by the classic Châteauneuf blend, it captures the power and complexity that have made Pégaü a reference point in the Southern Rhône.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration. The nose unfolds with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and a vivid herbal lift of rosemary and thyme, with further air revealing leather and sandalwood. The palate is rich and expansive, yet carried by remarkable finesse. Layers of dark fruit, clove, white pepper, and Provençal herbs bring both intensity and clarity, while the structure promises excellent development over the next 5 years and graceful aging for 20 to 25 years in total.

Production
The Cuvée Réservée is traditionally crafted from a blend of 13 grape varieties, though Grenache makes up the clear majority at around 80%. Laurence Féraud follows a hands-on approach: the grapes are fermented as whole clusters in cement vats with native yeasts, then matured for two years in used oak barrels. This method preserves purity of fruit while adding texture and complexity, reflecting the distinctive terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Food & Serving
This is a superb partner for slow-roasted lamb, game, beef stew, grilled ribs, or richly seasoned Mediterranean dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open.
