Sitting on the boundary with Meursault and alongside Les Perrières, this tiny parcel yields only a handful of bottles each year, making the magnum format especially appealing for collectors and lovers of fine Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a wine of depth and presence, showing the generous character of the 2018 vintage. Aromas unfold with nectarine, ripe red apple and citrus, layered with almond, brioche and a subtle oak complexity that adds refinement rather than weight. The palate is concentrated and powerful, yet keeps the class and precision expected from top Puligny-Montrachet. The finish is dense, long and intense, with impressive structure and balance. While already very expressive, it should continue to gain nuance over the coming years, especially in magnum.

Production
Les Referts is a Premier Cru vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet, positioned on an outstanding stretch of the Côte de Beaune’s prized limestone slope. Domaine des Terres de Velle owns just 0.12 hectares here, resulting in an extremely limited production of around 750 bottles annually. The wine is made in a classic style with fermentation and ageing in oak barrels, including approximately 40% new oak, and is matured for up to 18 months before bottling without filtration.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled turbot with beurre blanc, but it will also shine with lobster, roasted scallops, fine poultry or creamy risotto. Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 11–13°C, and consider decanting briefly if opened young to help the wine show its full aromatic range.
