Domaine des Terres de Velle Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes Blanc 2019 Magnum is a rare and beautifully expressive white Burgundy from a tiny 0.1644-hectare parcel in one of Meursault’s most celebrated Premier Cru sites. With only around 300 magnums produced, this is a wine of precision, depth, and old-vine character, made from Chardonnay planted in 1936. It captures the richness and mineral drive that have made Les Charmes one of the most admired names in Burgundy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic allure of great Meursault: luminous golden color with refined depth and a sense of concentration. The nose opens with ripe stone fruit—especially peach and apricot—layered with subtle smoky oak, delicate spice, and a distinctly mineral edge. The palate is broad and generous, yet kept beautifully fresh by vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish. The combination of old vines, Premier Cru terroir, and careful élevage gives the wine impressive complexity and balance. It should age gracefully for many years, gaining even more nuance, texture, and tertiary depth over time.

Production
This wine comes from a tiny parcel in the lower part of Les Charmes, a part of the vineyard known for producing the deepest, most layered wines in the appellation. The vines were planted in 1936, and the old-vine fruit brings both concentration and natural balance to the finished wine. The grapes are hand-harvested, and both alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion take place in oak barrels, followed by up to 18 months of barrel aging before the wine is bottled unfiltered.

Food & Serving
An excellent match for fine fish dishes, especially richer preparations with a generous sauce, such as sole meunière, turbot with beurre blanc, or lobster. It also works beautifully with roasted poultry, creamy shellfish dishes, or elegant dishes with mushrooms. Serve at around 10–12°C, and consider decanting briefly if serving young to help it open up fully.
