Description
Domaine Denis Mortet Bourgogne Cuvée de Noble Souche 2014 is a refined regional Pinot Noir that punches well above its appellation, thanks to fruit from selected older vines and the unmistakable precision of the Mortet style. The 2014 vintage in Burgundy brought brightness, balance, and aromatic clarity, all of which are beautifully expressed here in a wine with both charm and seriousness.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby hue typical of youthful Burgundy. The nose is clean and inviting, with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, delicate floral tones, and a subtle thread of spice and minerality.
The palate is focused and elegant, with concentrated red fruit wrapped in a precise structure and finely polished tannins. Fresh acidity gives the wine lift and energy, while the finish is impressively long for a Bourgogne Rouge. It is enjoyable now, but it also has the structure to develop further over the next few years.
Production
This wine comes from carefully selected parcels of older vines in Burgundy, bringing extra depth, complexity, and character to the blend. The terroir contributes both freshness and mineral drive, while the 2014 harvest delivered fruit with excellent balance and aromatic purity. Vinification is guided by Domaine Denis Mortet’s signature approach, aiming for finesse, transparency, and a faithful expression of Pinot Noir.
Food & Serving
Serve this wine with roast poultry, charcuterie, mushroom-based dishes, or lighter pasta recipes where its purity of fruit and elegance can shine. It is best served slightly cool, around 15–16°C, and decanting is optional; a brief aeration may help the wine open up if enjoyed young.
